IN terms of prestige/reputation, I would go with Ray-Ban as being first.
For those who REALLY know sunglasses,
Looking at the history of sunglasses, Rayban would have been the sunglasses of choice for guys in the Army Air Force (back in WWII and post WWII) and subsequently, all the big movie stars (and then the public) of that day gravitated toward the brand. They’ve had a long history of creating a great product.
Second on the list would be Oakley. Oakley revolutionized the sunglasses industry back in the late 70′s/early 80′s by creating the first optically correct, non-glass lenses. Oakley holds more patents in sunglasses design and manufacture than other companies. Multiple independent labs and goverment labs have tested Oakley sunglasses against the manufacturers you have listed here and more (over 60 different manufacturers), oakley has come out on top in clarity and strength (impact protection) every time. You can find stronger glasses, but they’re not as clear. You can find clearer glasses, but they’re made from glass and not that protective. Due to this protective nature, Oakley eyewear is often considered eye protection and not just sunglasses.
All the other bands you have listed, DO NOT make their own sunglasses and contract out to the lowest bidder, So, in terms of “prestige” meaning, the most expensive, you are indeed paying for just the name on the glasses. In fact, many of the brands you list, use the same manufacturer to produce their glasses. That is why you see similar styles across different brands.
If PRICE is your prestige point. Again, I’d say go with Oakley.
Oakley has a pair of sunglasses created from CNCing a block of Carbon Fiber. these are unique to the market place and very few have been produced. the full carbon fiber version costs $4000!
